Wireless Home Theater

A wireless home theater helps to reduce the amount of wires that need to be run for a system. The term wireless can be deceiving however because the speaker will still need to be provided with the power to produce the sound. The speaker receives the audio information wirelessly via a transmitter plugged into the receiver, but the speaker will still need batteries or need to be plugged into a power source.

This means that the wireless home theater is not totally wireless, but it does greatly reduce the amount of wire being used.  Subwoofers are always self powered, so this means a wireless subwoofer is a good idea and is quite practical. For many homeowners the subwoofer is the first piece of equipment to go wireless.

Wireless home theater technology has a long way to go and is still evolving. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are revolutionizing the way electronics communicate and will play a very big role in the coming years. Keeping an eye on the wireless market is the only way for homeowners to know whether the wireless technologies will be useful for them.
