Smart Home

Imagine pulling into the driveway and arriving home to a house where the lights turn on upon approach, the security system senses the arrival, the temperature is adjusted to the preferred setting, and the oven begins to cook dinner. It’s possible with a smart home. It may sound like something out of the future, but the future is now.

A smart home functions using a computer that can monitor several aspects of the home. The most common areas monitored are heating or cooling, security, multi-media, and lighting. Using just one control panel the home owner can program the entire home environment.

Some of the more advanced smart homes really take it to the next level. Systems can be set up to turn on certain appliances (like the oven or the washing machine) at programmed times. They can even monitor the content of the pantry and refrigerator and automatically compile grocery lists or suggest dinner ideas.
